In high school, Ivan Buxton Gay Jr. was on the track team. Always pushing himself to do better and go faster, Ivan developed an unwavering sense of commitment through his athletic years. Carrying his team spirit into his Vietnam War service, the Navy Veteran credits his time on the track team with strengthening his grasp on camaraderie and the importance of encouraging others. Although sometimes viewed as an individual sport in some exhibitions, track and field are very much team-oriented, in Ivan’s experience. He continues to follow the inspiring careers of athletes in track and field, from the collegiate to Olympic levels of competition in the sport.
NCAA Basketball
Ivan Buxton Gay Jr. is a sports fan who avidly follows NCAA basketball. Over the last few years, he has closely followed numerous of the Men’s Basketball teams through the highs and lows in the NCAA. His favorite teams include the Auburn Tigers, Duke Blue Devils, Alabama Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers. Watching the players develop their craft and athleticism is quite the sight to see for Ivan, who has been a sports fan of NCAA basketball for most of his life.
College Football
Although he did not play college football himself, Ivan Buxton Gay Jr. is a huge fan of NCAA college football. He follows Ohio State and Notre Dame each season — imagine his excitement over the 2025 college football playoff title! Ivan has watched as college players turn to the pros, generation after generation. This sneak peak into some of the greatest athletes’ careers continues to be a great treat to Ivan as a sports fan of college football and the NFL.
