Ivan Buxton Gay Jr. studied Industrial Engineering at the undergraduate level at the State University. Ivan’s studies in Industrial Engineering set the foundation for his career as an Engineer. After pursuing his studies for three semesters, Ivan decided to apply his newfound knowledge immediately. Taking on a role as a Land Surveyor with the State Highway Department, Ivan played an instrumental role in the surveying of Interstate 40 and I-85.

State Highway Department

After attending the State University in pursuit of studies in Industrial Engineering, Ivan Buxton Gay Jr. entered the workforce as a Land Surveyor. Taking on a role in bridge surveying at the State Highway Department, Ivan played an instrumental role in the development and building of critical infrastructure of the State Highway. As a Bridge Surveyor, Ivan surveyed the industrial engineering projects of Interstate 40 and I-85.
In addition to his work at the State Highway Department, Ivan Buxton Gay Jr. took on freelance surveying work with a private company. These formative experiences in Industrial Engineering were the backbone of Ivan’s career. His time as a Land Surveyor / Bridge Surveyor instilled within him the skills necessary to be a capable leader. Ivan carried his experiences in Industrial Engineering with him into his career in the Navy, as well as in his Small Business ventures in the restaurant industry.
